
Event Brief

Pragyaan, the Business Quiz, the biggest crowd puller of Avenues, is an ultimate battleground for the sharpest brains of the country, where they are tested to their wits-end by some of the country’s most admired quiz masters.
Each year quizzing freaks from all over the country take a break from their hectic lives and come to the lush green campus of IIT Bombay to fight it out for the ultimate prize. With its participation increasing by leaps and bounds each year, Pragyaan has become one of the most awaited events in the country’s quizzing calendar.
Last year Pragyaan saw participation from over 50 corporate teams and over 140 teams from Business Schools across the country.
Pragyaan 2011 plans to take forward its legacy to the next level leveraging on its increasing popularity amongst the student community.
Event Format

The event will be conducted in three phases as shown below
Round 1:
This will be an online event in which business schools from all over India can participate. Any number of teams consisting of two members each can participate. The winning team can directly enter the final round. Travel Fees will be reimbursed for the winning team.
Round 2:
The preliminary round will be held in the campus a few hours before the final event. Students and Corporate persons battle against each other. 7 teams will qualify into the finals.
Round 3:
The mega event will be conducted by the renowned quiz master VV Ramanan, the resident quizmaster at “The Hindu”. The eight qualified teams will compete for the prizes.
Rules

- The quiz is open for both corporate and college teams.
- Each team should be composed of 2 members. For students both members must be from the same institution, no such restrictions for corporate.
- The Final will be contested between 8 teams , out of which 7 teams will qualify from the preliminary round to be held on campus and the other will be the winner of the online qualification quiz.

Quiz Master

Pragyaan 2011, the signature business quiz of Avenues, will be hosted by renowned quiz master V V Ramanan. His impressive profile is testimonial to his fascination and expertise with trivia.
He has been a regional finalist in BBC’s Mastermind India. He was also part of the team that has won the National final of the popular Landmark Quiz, arguably India’s largest Open quiz. He pursues his 3 decade long affair with quizzing in his job as resident quizmaster for ‘The Hindu’. He has been writing the popular weekly quiz column for ‘The Hindu Young World’ for the last 11 years. He has also been writing a quiz on computers and IT called ‘Cyber Quest’ in The Hindu Business Line for the last 11 years, a movie quiz titled ’10′ in the Cinema Plus supplement and a quiz in the Education Plus supplement of The Hindu. He comes up with thematic quizzes as and when required by his employer.
V V Ramanan is also the host of one of the biggest, live national level inter-school quizzes ‘The Hindu Young World Quiz’ which attempts to identify the brightest quizzing minds in India. The 2010 version of this quiz took place over 16 cities. He regularly conducts quizzes for leading corporates, TV channels, colleges and schools. Apart from hosting quizzes, he is also the author of 3 best selling volumes of the book ‘The Hindu Young World Quiz’. He currently resides in Chennai in his position as senior journalist at the sports desk for ‘The Hindu’.
