Deadline for 1st round submission is extended to 19th September, end of day
With Indian economy on the road of high growth trajectory, India Inc. is expanding its operations, making overseas acquisitions and exploring new ventures, leading to increased requirement for funds which cannot be met completely by conventional ways. With increasing number of issues in last 2 years companies are finding it easy to raise funds via the Capital market. In the year 2010-11, Public equity issues worth 8-10 bn USD hit the Indian equity market. With FPOs of high-profile companies like ONGC, SAIL and L&T Finance and IPOs of private companies like Tata Auto Comp, Topsgrup, The Loot & Reliance Life the number of issues hitting the market are expected to increase in the coming years.
Mudra is an IPO valuation event that seeks to challenge the brightest minds of future Investment Bankers from across the B-Schools to show their acumen in underwriting of the an Initial-Public-Offer and pitch before the Anchor Investors.
Event Format
The participants will be provided a list of unlisted companies and they are required to select one company based on their reasoning and act as Investment Bankers and prepare a pitch book for the selected company to pitch before the Anchor Investors.
The pitch book can include following:
- Overview of the Industry
- Overview of the company and its Business model
- Objective of the Issue
- What is there in it for an investor
- Valuation of the company backed by the financial model
- Associated Risk Factors etc
Round 1:
Participating teams have to submit an executive summary of their pitch not exceeding 7 slides (5 slide summary + 1 slide Appendix + 1 slide for Cover page).
Each executive summary should have a cover page that indicates:
- Name of the school/university and Names of team members
- E-mail addresses and telephone numbers of all team members
- Teams must submit their summaries by 23:59 hours, 17th September 2011.
Round 2:
All the entries from first round will be screened and the best entries will be selected for the second round. The selected teams will have to submit:
- Detailed pitch in PowerPoint presentation form with all the analysis
- All the supporting excels and docs
The details and the format of the deliverables would be conveyed to the shortlisted teams later.
Grand Finale
The top 5 teams would be invited for the on-campus round of ‘Mudra’ to be held as part of Avenues 2011 on 16th October 2011.
The finalteams would have to present their pitch in front of a panel of prospective anchor investors. Teams will be given 15 minutes for the presentation followed by 10 minutes Q&A session.
Mudra (Round 1) Rules

- Participation is open to all management students pursuing a Masters inBusiness Administration (full-time) or an equivalent degree.
- Each team should consist of maximum two students. All teammembers should be from the same institute.
- One student cannot be part of more than one team.
- There is no restriction on number of teams from the same college
- Any identified act of plagiarism will lead to immediate disqualificationof the team
- Submissions should be sent in zipped file with subject and file nametitled as “Mudra2011_TeamName_Institute” at mudra@sjmsom.in
- Kindly send your queries with subject titled “Query_TeamName” at mudra@sjmsom.in.
- Decision of Team Mudra will be final in an event of dispute.
