About Avenues

‘Avenues’ is the annual Business festival organized by Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay. It consists of a potpourri of management events targeted at the budding managers and combines learning with fun. Crossing Chasms, Realizing Dreams will be the central theme for Avenues 2011, which will culminate in exciting three days of the frenzied activities, stimulating debates and solemn contemplations by students, academia and industry.

Avenues 2010, held on Oct 23rd and 24th, was an exciting and fun filled extravaganza with participation from over 200 B-schools across India, leading corporate houses and working professionals. The events saw over 6000 registrations with 50 entries coming from corporate teams. Change, Evolve, Sustain was the theme for the festival, which was reflected in the 9 events and the intellectually stimulating discourses by various luminaries.

Alankar, the distinguished lecture series, aimed at bringing together eminent personalities from different walks of life, was graced by Mr. Adi Godrej, Chairman of the Godrej Group, Mr. Subrata Roy, Chairman of the Sahara Group, Mr. S Gurumurthy, Co-convener of Swadeshi Jagran Manch, journalist and chartered accountant, Mr. Kamal Hasan, actor, director and screen writer, and Mr. Satish Jha, President and CEO of One Laptop per Child.

Nirvikriti, a novel marketing event for sustainable tourism development was launched in partnership with Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC). The event was a sterling success with over 100 registrations from 7- colleges. Navonmesh – the Entrepreneurship Challenge, Pragyaan – the Business Quiz, Ashwamedh – the Championship event and the Online Games were all enthusiastically received and showcased the best talents in the country.

Avenues 2010 was a runaway success; in the words of a participant- “It was a lot of fun and combined entertainment with learning, all in a very competitive environment.”
